How do I upgrade to version 10?
To upgrade a single user version of Roll Call to Roll Call 10, do the following:
- Note the name and location of your data file. This should be listed on the main roll call menu in the lower left corner.
- Backup your data file.
- If you are on a Windows platform, uninstall Roll Call.
- Download Roll Call v10 for your specific operating system.
- Double click on the downloaded file to begin the installation. Click NEXT through the prompts.
- Copy your data file to the new Roll Call\Database folder on Windows or the Applications:Roll Call folder on the Mac
- Double click on the Roll Call icon to start the program, then immediately hold down the ALT key. A screen will be displayed. Choose the option to open a ifferent file.
- Navigate to your data file and click OPEN.
- The conversion process will now begin, when it is complete, a conversion log will be displayed.
If you have Roll Call on your network, follow these instructions to upgrade:
- Note the name and location of your data file. This can be found by opening up Roll Call Client. The name and location is displayed on the lower left corner of the main screen.
- Go to your Roll Call Server and perform a backup of the data file, select File>Backup.
- Make sure everyone is off Roll Call, then shut your server down.
- If you are on a Windows machine, uninstall Roll Call Server.
- Download version 10 of Roll Call Server for your operating system.
- Double click on the installer file you just downloaded.
- Click NEXT through the installer prompts.
- Copy your old data file to the new Roll Call Server\Database folder on Windows and Applications:Roll Call Server on Macs.
- Double click on the Roll Call Server icon then immediately hold down the ALT key.
- A window, will be displayed for you to open the default or open a different data file. Select the option for a different data file.
- Navigate to your data file, highlight it and click OPEN. You are now at the Roll Call Server dashboard.
- Next download Roll Call Client for version 10 for your operating system.
- Roll Call client will need to be installed on each machine that needs access to Roll Call.
- For Windows machines, make sure to uninstall and existing Roll Call Client, before installing v10 Client.
- Double click on Roll Call Client. If you get a -10002 error, click through that message. You'll be taken to a window with 3 tabs, Recent, TCP/IP and Custom. Click on TCP/IP, highlight Roll Call then click OPEN.
- The first time Roll Call Client connects to Server, the conversion will take place. Once the conversion is complete, a conversion log will be displayed.
